I am one of the creators of rankrz.com. We thought describing oneself with a ranking/list could be interesting. We can know who we are (or who do we think we are) collectively as well as individually. Here is my list.

Innovation

Innovation is my life's theme. I decided to become a professional innovator, when I left Bain and started Innomove. There is the notion of a serial entrepreneur, but still it seems that 'one' big success is the goal of most entrepreneurs.

I would have multiple small successes than a single big success, even if that could mean that I worked more for the same return. I really enjoy the process of innovating - seeing opportunities (or problems), coming up with an idea, making, letting the world know, seeing it being used.

Rankrz.com

You now know rankrz.com. Making rankrz.com was one of the most exciting things for me. I don't know certainly where it will go, but I believe (and hope) it is something significant. Will rankrz be more fun or informative? I think it has to be both. But given that I am not a very entertaining person (and so is Chihyung), it won't certainly be an 'entertainment' site.

Long live rankrz!

Paragraphr.com

I like books. But I know that the book as we know has a lot of change in front of it. However, I hope that there is a place for slow-paced, deeply thought books in this fast-paced world.

I hope we can contribute some to the book of the future with paragraphr.com.

Korea

I am a legal Korean, live in Korea, speak Korean as my first language, and most importantly I regard myself as a Korean.

I have studied in the US, worked in Europe and Hong Kong, worked with people from different countries (as a subordinate, peer, boss), and some of them were very cosmopolitan. Still, everyone had a home country. I think people need a home town. For me it happens to be Korea.

Economics

I majored in Economics in college. In fact, I wanted to become an economist when I entered college.

Now I do something else, but the influence is still there. When I think about a new business idea, I tend to think "this will be profitable, but also good for the society." And I see that tendency among my classmates as well. Business majors (in undergrad) seem to care less about society. I am not saying econ majors are more ethical. They just like to think and talk as if we run the society.

MBA

Getting an MBA was a major event in my life in many ways. I had a chance to live in the US for 2 years, got to know people from many different countries and cultures, and learned a lot in the classes.

About the last point, learning, I hear many people say you don't go to MBA for learning. They say MBA is for networking, prestige, sexy jobs, even taking a rest (cited by many ex-consultants and investment bankers), etc. I think they are either wrong or lying. A goal is a subject thing, and can differ by person. However, I don't think prestige or a job would exist without the fact it teaches something. In that sense, all the other things are derivative. And yes, I learned a lot from classes.

But I think the relationship between MBA and entrepreneurship are tricky. Guy Kawasaki, an MBA, say often that a startup should not hire an MBA. I think that tend to be right. MBA tends to attract people who want to be an executive at a well-known company, though I would add that there exists entrepreneurial niche culture at a business school.

Family

Dear my family, I love you all.

Music

I like music, but I hope to know more about classical music. Not because I think knowledge is important to enjoy music but certain level of knowledge helps you enjoy. I am happy to find that I can now download high-quality musics in MP3 files (here).

Kellogg

Yes, I am an MBA from Kellogg. I will probably talk about this more in another ranking (you can guess the title).

Entrepreneurship

That's right. I am an entrepreneur. I like small business. More about this later...
